Welcome back Monarchs!!

It is so great to see you all back on campus! The first week of classes may feel a little bit overwhelming, but we have a couple quick things that may help this semester go smoother. Today's tip contains really important information/deadlines so please read through it carefully.

1. Add/Drop deadline for semester 1 courses is January 30th. If you have questions about your courses please attend the Virtual Drop-In Advising. If you have other quick questions, please see our Advising/Registration FAQs.

2. If you are retaking a course OR taking a course you expect to be challenging, get help now! We know it is the first week of class but the time is now to get help. It becomes noticeably harder to get help once your grades begin to reflect your struggle. Start building office hours, tutoring, and peer mentor meetings into your schedule. **If you do not understand something, ask now! Courses tend to get harder as they go on.**

3. Read and Reread your syllabus. Your syllabus is jam packed full of important information for your course. See your professor's email requirements, check for FAQs, look at the grading scale, and big assignments/exams that are expected. Pay attention when your professor goes over their syllabus in class, they may elaborate more on things. If something doesn't make sense, ask, chances are you are not the only student confused.

*Bonus: Introduce yourself to at least one peer and get their phone number. It may feel awkward, but it will help to know someone in class. That way you can build study groups, ask questions, and work together throughout the semester.
